It's my mum's birthday today so I thought I'd look up her blog of the 1948 London Olympics...

Day 7: At last, the athletics

Day 6: In the Olympic Park

The 1948 Olympics

At Wembley they have the honours board from 1948 on display. This used to be on the old twin towers, and was taken down and restored when they were demolished.

And of course there is the old Wembley Arena still there, where they had swimming and boxing in 1948.
Not at the same time of course, otherwise it would be waterpolo..

Would this be a good time to scan in my Dad's Guide to the 1948 Olympics? Cover price of Two and sixpence in contrast to today's five quid. Per day.

Day 5: Sir Bradley of Wiggins

Day 5: Hockey at the Riverbank Arena

This is exciting, it's Great Britain's Ashley Jackson scoring from a penalty corner against South Africa. The final score was 2-2. Tutu, as you might say, appropriately enough.

Day 5: Handball at the Copperbox

Handball is rather a good game, as you can see from this action shot Miriam took

We saw Norway draw with the South Koreans. Norway are the reigning Olympic Champions. The Norway fans were all having their photos taken with the big star of the team, whose name I will very shortly look up for you..

Day 4: German Gold
