Nothing at all to do with the Olympics
.. but it is me and Miriam with former Hammer and Birmingham City favourite Alan Curbishley
I'm holding a copy of a programme for the 1979 Chelsea-Birmingham clash, which I got him to sign. I reminded him that he scored his first Birmingham goal in that game (a 2-1 victory for the - Midlands - Blues), and he said , "Oh yes, I remember, a header, nice cross from Archie Gemmill". Having said that I think I look more pleased about it than he does.

Nothing at all to do with the Olympics
But it is Sam Williams scoring a last minute penalty for Dagenham against Fleetwood today. Warning: contains strong language, mostly related to how sh*t their goalkeeper is.
And here is the shell of the Dagenham programme shop, burnt out after it was 'maliciously arsonned' as the PA put it

Blog shortlisted for top photography prize
One of the pictures I took at The Derby - see June 2nd below - was shortlisted for the 'Celebration of a Nation' photographic competition organised by Yahoo and Mediatel. It was exhibited at a Top West End Gallery (admittedly for only one evening). And it raised £45 for charity, being ACTUALLY SOLD to a real person (not me, I was outbid..). I am not making any of this up.
Full story is here, together with the winning photos: http://celebration.mediatel.co.uk/
And here is the photo itself.

The Olympic Stadium in Berlin: November 2 2012
During Hertha Berlin 0 Ingelstadt 0
But at least you can get a drink during the game. In fact every so often a bloke comes round with a big tray of lager. The Germans do get some things right...

Swimming: Sat Sept 1
Aquatics Centre:
A bit different to Pistorius and Olivero:
An action shot.
Paralympics GB's Claire Chasmore with her Silver Medal.
Matt Whorwood of Paralympics GB wins Bronze. He seems a nice chap:
Ellie Simmonds prepares for battle against Victoria Arlen in the 400m Freestlye:
And they're off!...Arlen (2nd closest) is chased down by Simmonds (3rd closest, red hat) . In the Aquatics Centre everybody was SCREAMING so loud, it was crazy. I was shaking, like, "Aaargh!". It felt like nothing else existed, and whatever had happened or was happening, or was going to happen was of absolutely no importance, because the only thing that mattered was Ellie getting ahead of Arlen and winning the race. Which she did :)
A bit different to Pistorius and Olivero:
Ellie on the podium with her Gold medal. Sorry its blurry but as I said, it was so exciting I was shaking a bit.

Saturday September 1st: The Blog Is Back!
Hello again everyone, we are back for the Paralympics. Yesterday I (Miriam) went with school to see athletics.
Here is Team GB's Shelly Woods (3rd place, red hat) on her way to qualifying for the women's T54 5000m
The women's F37/38 Long Jump medallist observe the Russian national anthem, after Margarita Goncharova won gold with a leap of 4.84m.

This is the men's T11 1500m. Each visually impared athlete has a guide (in the orange bib) who run beside them and guides the visually impared athlete around the track. In this picture they are running round the bend, so the athlete and gudie stay close to each other; on the straights there is less danger of bashing into somebody, so the pairs can separate a bit. I think the gudies get medals too, which is fair.
This is the club throw. Its like throwing a boomerang, except you face the other way and throw it over your shoulder.
Here is Team GB's Aled Davies collecting his Bronze medal for the shot put- except the Croatian silver-medallist is hogging all the attention

We also saw Hannah Cockroft's 100m heat.
This evening, we are all taking Grandma (eek!) to the Aquatics Centre, where GB's Ellie Simmonds is looking to defend her 400m Freestyle (I think) gold, if the Victoria Arlen controversy is sorted out. We'll also see the 100m Butterfly in which Sascha Kindred is expected to medal for Team GB.

Day 16: The Blog's Parade of Champions
OK, you might have to trust me on a few of these...
This is definitely the GB Gold and Bronze medallists the Brownlees
GB Gold medallists we think in rowing here, but we don't quite recognise them when they aren't blubbing..
That's Tom Daley that is, in the red trousers, between the two beige trouser-wearers
Lewis Smith , bronze medalling gymnast, showing us the back of his head
Sir Chris Hoy, seemingly about to make the lame walk
Rebecca Adlington - she used to win Golds once
A Bahamian Gold medallist, so presumably one of the 4x400 team
Charles van Comanee, contemplating his future

Day 15: In the Park
This is what happens if you try to get an incorrectly branded Pork Pie into the park...
Some of the flowers have survived the past couple of weeks
In the volunteers buffet area.

Day 15: The Cultural Olympiad comes to Wanstead
It's not a Stonehenge shaped bouncy castle it's a work of art..
This is the women's 20 km walk, which Miriam went to see outside Buckingham Palce. Almost as bizarre as the above
(Miriam here. The race walk was weird, I don't know how the walkers resist the temptation to run when they're just behind somebody they want to overtake. And what this picture doesn't show is that I was surrounded by a group of very very loud and quite intimidating Chinese people, who yelled the Chinese equivalent of "COME OOOOON!!" when any Chinese walkers- like the ones in the picture below- went past. There were loads of them and they were barging the rest of us out the way, it was a bit scary.)

Day 14: An apology
Sorry, we don't have any tickets for anything today. So here's a picture of some nice German girls yesterday. In fact they are Franziska Weber and Tina Dietze who won the Kayak Doubles (whatever that is) and were just getting back to the village.
This is from last night: Usain Bolt as seen from the Olympic Park screen. (Warning: May contain disturbing scenes of bonkers Jamaicans)
This is the secret coffee pod where all those who work in the Broadcast Centre can get a snack before everything else opens. Some how I don't think it's the one where Linford Christie and Gary Lineker hang out.
The main drag in the Broadcast Cebtre / Media Centre complex
Panorama of the Park as seen from MacDonalds. I took this because I liked the cloud formations.
I am part of Olympic history! Just behind the Union Flag, to the right, preparing to take a photo. Actually at the Mixed Doubles Medal Ceremony
